Meet Our Franchisees: Gene and Elaine Santovenia

Husband and wife business duo Gene and Elaine Santovenia both have a wealth of experience and will be adding their knowledge by bringing The Cleaning Authority to Coastal North Carolina.

Growing up in Hoboken, New Jersey, Gene made his way to Florida to obtain his bachelor’s degree in Economics from Florida International University. For the next 30 years, Gene made a name for himself in the franchising industry by managing global growth for the well-known brands, Blockbuster and Burger King. Through his experiences with Burger King, Gene traveled the world and contributed to the brand’s growth in Latin America, the Caribbean and Central America.

Elaine graduated from Florida International University with her bachelor’s degree in English Literature. Directly following her degree, Elaine established a career in education for close to 20 years. Elaine taught language arts and social studies to at-risk middle school students in Miami. Having a second home in Boone, North Carolina, Elaine and Gene relocated to the area and Elaine continued teaching.

Although he appreciated his career, Gene wanted to put all the associated traveling on hold and proposed the option of opening their own business to Elaine. Agreeing with her husband, Gene and Elaine began searching for a business that offered a service the majority of the population needed as well as something that would contribute to their quality of life.

While researching other franchises, Gene and Elaine came across The Cleaning Authority. Respecting the business model, they foresaw a future with the brand and chose to introduce the brand to North Carolina.

"The Cleaning Authority is a market leader," said Gene. "Not to mention, we were very impressed with the business model and their consumer oriented approach. This was a career that would not be obsolete from the internet. We liked the fact The Cleaning Authority adds quality of life to the customer, employees and franchisees; we saw it as a win, win, win."

In addition to their robust careers, Gene is active with the Masons and Elaine is a member of the Junior League. The couple will be sponsoring any events they can affiliated with the two groups, and also plan to work with children's organizations in the area.
